Director: loud sound warning

Note:

This tag does not represent an actual director. This is a meta tag categorized as a director tag so that the bright orange color stands out in the tag list as a way to help serve its warning purpose to users.

This tag is used on videos and animations to warn viewers that the post in question contains very loud and sometimes painful sound(s) of any kind. Such sounds may include, but are not limited to:

  • Loud or unpleasant vocal sounds such as screaming, screeching, high-pitched singing, etc.
  • Loud sounds derived from impacting or scratching objects such as metal clanging or clawing a chalkboard
  • Peaking or overdriven audio of any kind, usually causing a moderate to heavy distortion of the audio track
  • Sudden/erratic/"jumpscare"-esque noises that may frighten the viewer, or may worsen health conditions for viewers with medically-weak hearts
  • Certain electronic noises such as buzzing, electrical arcing, white noise, bass and sub-bass reverberations, tone frequencies typically in the 2kHz-5kHz range, etc.

For sounds that are considered generally inappropriate and/or unpleasant, especially in a public environment, consider using sound_warning. These types of sounds can include sexual moaning, violent sounds, unpleasant dialogue, farting, and more. If the post contains sounds that apply to both tags, you may choose to use both tags in conjunction with each other on the same post.
