This tag is used in all cases where a character is tied up, chained, cuffed, or otherwise limited in motion by non-living things, such as rope and shackles. The tag restrained is used when motion is limited by a hold of living things. This is regardless of consent or implied fetishism.

Some common restraining devices are ropes, handcuffs, harnesses, and spreader_bars.

Remember that tentacles are living things, and thus they typically do not bind (unless a piece of dead tentacle has been wrapped around a thing and bound to a knot) but rather they restrain.
